METALCORE

Innocently, I asked "what's metalcore" in last week's FridayDateNight and so here we are with this genre as tonight's theme.

As I put the list together earlier at work I had serious misgivings.

And what the hell is he going to make for food?

Ah well, that's what FridayDateNight is about: stupid themes.

Music: Spotify playlist. I sort of like the August Burns Red cover of ...Baby One More Time.  He really loves it.  But yeah, this is not my genre.

Cocktail: Tequila Smashed Face

This is lovely!  As the recipe writer says "This is basically just a classic margarita recipe that’s been fucked with."

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 oz. tequila
  • 3/4 oz. Cointreau
  • Juice of a lime
  • Raspberries - handful
  • Dash of grenadine

Slight adaptation above and heartily recommend.

Sweet and Heat Pretzels

He stole this idea from a food truck menu:  Motley Crews.  Geddit?  Not that they are metalcore but are the same sort of vicinity.

They are sweet and cinnamony.  I think they would be good with a bit of chilli.  A good win, and fabulous to make pretzels much nicer.  And really quite moreish.  They go well with the cocktail.  Sigh.

The rain is pelting down in a miserable fashion.  The music whines up and down chords in a crazy furore.  A pretty nice place to be right now: at home with ma honey.

Lamb of God - quick roasted

He was mystified what to make for this theme, so he looked up metalcore bands to see if any of the band names could become food.  And, well, this goddam band has the word "lamb" in the title!  He then went down the road of tenuous and decided that metalcore was "quick" music.

He is super cute cooking this.  I think he loves stuff that all goes in one dish and can be scoofed about.  Hehehe.

This was delicious, really great.  Would be great for a Sunday lunchtime when the whole making a roast seems a hassle.
